Miller & Carter are a steakhouse chain where succulent steaks are expected, but what other highlights are there on the menu, and is it still worth visiting Miller & Carter in 2026? Let’s find out!

Prior to moving out, it was not uncommon for Adam and me to eat out a few nights a week. After all, when you’re both living with parents, going out for a nice meal is a lovely way to spend a couple of hours alone. Of course, like most couples, we had some regular haunts. One of our regulars was Miller & Carter in Hockcliffe, near my hometown of Leighton Buzzard.
Despite Miller & Carter being first and foremost a steakhouse, I always ordered the salmon with pesto. A dish I loved and one that despite its simplicity, I could never quite create the same flavour at home.
We moved to Milton Keynes and the Hockcliffe restaurant closed (not a result of us moving I must add!)
I can’t remember if I was in Paris or Italy when the brand new Miller & Carter Milton Keynes opened in Milton Keynes, and a PR invite offered ample opportunity for us to invite along Adam’s folks to come with us to try out the restaurant.
Adam’s parents recently gifted us a voucher for us to return, and do an up-to-date review!
The restaurant
On our previous trip we visited the Miller & Carter in Shenley Church End, formerly The Toby Carvery. This time we headed to the newer Miller & Carter restaurant in Xscape at the city centre.

Visiting in 2026, I wasn’t convinced we would have the same experience as we had a few years earlier as busy chain restaurants can often mean a poorer service, and for this reason it had actually been some time since I’d visited a chain (other than Nandos).
However, I couldn’t have been more wrong as our server provided us with the best customer service we’d received in a while, providing recommendations on steak cuts, accompanying sauces and he was attentive throughout. I wish I’d made a note of his name as it would be great to give him a shoutout.

Our table was booked for 7.30 pm and it was just as well we were booked in as the restaurant was fully booked! It’s apparent Miller & Carter hasn’t lost it’s appeal with the local Milton Keynes community!
So let’s get onto the best bit…the food!

Miller & Carter Steakhouse Menu
For a steakhouse, Miller & Carter sure has a wide-ranging menu, which provides plenty of choice for diners looking to choose beyond the staple steak dish.
On Monday-Friday Miller & Carter do a fabulous steak & cocktail deal priced at £25 per person, and on Sunday they do an indulgent Sundays sharing board that I’ve also got my eye on!

Steak aside, Miller & Carter also have some fantastic starter dishes. I love the halloumi fries with chilli dip! Adam chose the chicken wings to start and Angie, the garlic mushrooms (these looked yummy!)

I’d already had my heart set on one of the chefs sharing boards, which Ash (Adam’s Dad) was up for sharing with me. Of course, I had to choose the Chefs Meat Board with stuffed Yorkshire’s (my fave) along with a selection of cured meats, olives, and Parmesan cheese!

The pre-meal routine of snapping pictures was a new thing for Adam’s folks, who kindly let me pap their food before tucking in!

I think it was Ash’s (Adam’s Dad) threat to eat all of our chef’s sharing board starter that resulted in me swiftly putting my camera away! And boy I was glad I did! The Chefs Meat Board is the perfect appetiser (not too heavy) before the main event!
Miller & Carter are known first and foremost for their steaks, they are a steakhouse after all. Therefore, the wide choice of succulent steaks, including rib-eye, t-bone, and sirloin cut beef steaks are to be expected. Miller & Carter only serve premium-graded beef, sourced from cattle reared on sustainable British and Irish farms.

Adam and I are impartial to a chateaubriand (a steak dish between two) when we dine in a steakhouse. Though, this time around I was keen to capture various dishes from the menu. This also meant I’d have no choice but to sample some of Adam’s steak, as he would choose steak without question!

Adam and Angie opted for the steak dishes, Adam choosing rump steak, Angie choosing sirloin. Both steaks were cooked exactly as ordered so our meal chit chat was soon down to a minimum as we all tucked in!

The steak was very tender and I’ve made a conscious note to come back for steak! There are a variety of sides to accompany the steaks, including a bowl of crispy, yet fluffy in the middle chips. Yep, I sampled a couple of those…for blog purposes!

As well as a great choice of sides, Miller & Carter are also known for their wedge salad. It’s basically a lettuce wedge quarter topped with your choice of topping. The concept derived from the 50’s where the lettuce wedge was used as a palate cleanser before a meal. A great idea if you want to taste the full flavour of the steaks!

As the sentimental person I am, having enjoyed fish on previous visits, I wanted to enjoy a fish dish once more. The choice for obvious reasons was salmon, though when I saw the sea bass came with pesto and a hollandaise sauce, I knew that would be the one for me. To my surprise, Ash had also chosen this main, though I followed my tummy and ordered the sea bass regardless.

When the sea bass came out of the kitchen we were both wowed at the portion sizes! In some restaurants, fish dishes can sometimes leave you craving more food but not at Miller & Carter…
The pesto crusted sea bass is served with crushed baby potatoes, roasted vegetable tartare, sugar snap peas, samphire and tarragon-infused hollandaise. Needless to say, it tasted as good as it looks, full of flavour and the creamy hollandaise sauce and greens tasted amazing with the sea bass.

It’s not just the steaks that will ensure you have a hearty meal that’s for sure!
It was touch and go whether we would all have enough room for pudding. In all honesty, if it wasn’t for the fact I wanted to sample all three dishes for the review, I probably would have opted out of pudding. Plus, Adam and Angie’s three-course menu already had pudding included, so Ash and I couldn’t miss out!
The fresh berries & sorbet meringue sounded suspiciously like Eton Mess to me (only my favourite summer pudding). But, unfortunately, they had already sold out. Much to mine and Ash’s dismay (the man was insistent on ordering the same dishes as me..)
This meant Ash had no alternative but to order his staple cheese board (it’s a hard life) and I had to choose something else entirely.

For pudding I chose Miller’s Chocolate Hazelnut Bomb.
An Indulgently rich chocolate & hazelnut ganache encased in a nutty chocolate shell and served with praline ice cream, a zesty orange curd, and raspberry sugar tuille.

To my delight, the restaurant was out of praline ice cream so instead, I got my favourite pistachio instead (oh for small mercies!)
As I got my camera out to record the melting of the chocolate bomb, I realised that this wasn’t the melting variety. I wasn’t too disheartened as often chocolate bombs can melt away to nothing despite being the showstopping boomerang for Instagram.

Adam chose his staple chocolate brownie and Angie opted for the sticky toffee pudding.

The Service at Miller and Carter Milton Keynes
Both times we have visited Miller & Carter we have had exceptional service. From our first visit served by waitress, Karla, who provided us and the other tables around us with a fantastic service all evening, despite the busyness of the restaurant. To our recent visit, with our waiter explaining the best way to cook each cut of meat, talking confidently about the menu; helping us narrow down our choices.
The long-bone tomahawk and chateaubriand also look like incredible choices off the Miller & Carter menu.

The Miller & Carter Steakhouse Experience Milton Keynes
As a restaurant Adam and I know and love, we both weren’t at all surprised about how much we enjoyed our meal at the MK restaurant. Ash and Angie were impressed with their choices too and, despite friends telling them that the restaurant was expensive, they agreed the price of £150 for a three-course meal, each bottle of wine and two rounds of beers was reasonable.

Our only qualm was the price of a bottle of red wine, which seemed too pricey at £30 for a bottle. When we dine out we will normally pay in the region of £17-20 for a good bottle.

Regardless of whether you like tucking into a juicy steak or not, Miller & Carter has a wide variety of choices on the menu to please the whole family. I certainly wasn’t disappointed with my sea bass! You can check out the menu and book a table on the Miller & Carter website.
